Meet Our Founder - Hilai Shefa, MBA
Hilai is a Change Management leader, educator, and strategist with a deep passion for helping people and organizations navigate change with clarity and confidence. With over a decade of experience across industries, including financial services, consulting, and higher education, Hilai brings a unique blend of academic insight and practical expertise to her work.
She holds an MBA from Schulich School of Business, where she specialized in Organization Studies and led strategic planning initiatives for industry clients. She completed her Bachelor's in Human Biology with a focus on Neurobiology at the University of California, San Diego. Now as a faculty member at Schulich, she teaches graduate-level courses in Change Management, empowering the next generation of leaders to think critically and act decisively.
Professionally, Hilai has led enterprise-wide change initiatives at TD Bank and the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, helping organizations adopt new technologies, shift operating models, and build cultures that embrace change.
But her passion for change goes beyond the workplace.
Hilai has experienced significant changes in her personal life - some planned, others unexpected. Through these experiences, she learned that when change is prepared for, it can be a powerful opportunity for growth. But when it catches us off guard, it can be overwhelming and disorienting. That contrast is what fuels her mission: to help people understand what change really is, how to prepare for it, and how to use it as a catalyst for personal and professional growth.
That mission is at the heart of Changely - a space where leaders and learners alike can build the skills, mindset, and resilience to lead through change.
Our Story
Changely was born from a simple but powerful realization: while leaders are expected to drive change, few know how.
Too often, change initiatives fail not because of the idea but because of the execution.
Our founder, Hilai, observed this gap while working with senior leaders across industries. She envisioned a space where leaders could learn both the why and the how of change.
That vision became Changely: a leadership training academy dedicated to teaching experienced professionals the art and science of change implementation.
